Arts & Access Always

The Lehigh Valley Arts Council is committed to ensuring
Arts & Access Always and expanding cultural access to all people by offering the community grant incentives, marketing, and professional development support.

to engage all citizens in the Lehigh Valley, intentionally securing the participation of all abilities, regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive limitation, both as audience members and/or providers in the dance, theatrical, musical, visual, literary or media arts.

On July 12, 2018 the Arts Council produced Champions of Inclusion, the Lehigh Valley’s first-ever cultural accessibility trade fair. Held at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, the event highlighted six cultural organizations and six human service organizations as the regions leaders of cultural accessibility. A panel discussion and presentation featuring local experts in the field broke up the trade fair, and a performance by celebrated comedian Josh Blue capped off the event.

The students typically work on two projects each week. The projects vary from painting, to collaging to crafting, and many other creative projects. Very hands-on and fun! The classes are designed to help the students learn about shapes, depth, color and more. Some projects feature sensory activities. Lots of camaraderie and fun! Incentive Grants for Greater inclusion

In March 2017, the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Arts Council adopted the following vision statement:  “To be the leader of arts advocacy in the Lehigh Valley and ensure access to the arts for people of all abilities. Within that spirit of greater inclusion, the Arts Council is offering three Incentive Grants for Greater Inclusion in 2018 to cultural nonprofits to encourage adopting cultural access as a core value of their organization.

2018 Grant opportunities

Each of the matching grants are designed to help fund a new arts initiative. For funding support, nonprofits may apply for one of the following grants, and must be members of the Lehigh Valley Arts Council.
