Lehigh Valley Arts Council Unveils Fourth Work in Continuing Public Art Sculpture Series


Sculpture Displays Arts Materials at the Easton Visitor's Center

Allentown, PA - The new visitor's center located at Two Rivers Landing in downtown Easton has been selected to host the fourth installment in the Lehigh Valley Arts Council's (LVAC) Public Art Sculpture Series. The series of public sculptures are designed to promote the arts in artful ways and act as display for arts promotional materials.

Arts Luminary, a metal work by Quakertown sculptor John Mathews will be unveiled on Friday, July 17th at 10:00am and is open to the public.The dramatic eight-foot steel structure is painted shades of blue and at night will create a striking interplay of light and shadow when illuminated. The sculpture was made possible through the generosity of and partnership with the .

This is John Mathews first commissioned piece for the Lehigh Valley Arts Council's Sculpture series. Mathews has been active in the Lehigh Valley arts community for over tow decades. The former president of the Lehigh Art Alliance, he has also exhibited extensively in the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions in the past twenty years. Currently he is the Assistant Academic Dean of the Arts at Bucks County Community College in Newtown.

LVAC's Public Art Sculpture Series is a reflection of the Council's mission to promote the arts and to connect art with the community. "The LVAC believes that the arts are essential to the economic prosperity and quality of life in the Lehigh Valley," said LVAC Executive Director Randall Forte.
