Art helped me express myself on one of the most important days of my life: graduation.

I had to encompass four years at DeSales University onto the back of my graduation cap and at first I had no clue how I was going to do it. As a communication major, my proudest moments at DeSales were during my senior year as editor-in-chief of the school’s newspaper. I cut out some of my favorite articles to make the background of my cap, used stickers that were school colors (red and navy blue) to make a border, and found a song lyric, “The rest is still unwritten,” that represented my life ahead of me as a writer.

On graduation day, it was amazing to see all the uniquely designed caps. In the sea of black gowns, the art on our caps gave my classmates and me a way to stand out and represent who we all are while also acknowledging everything we have accomplished in the past four years.
