James D. Craig

In my early teens, a foolish stunt resulted in my chopping off 2 flexor tendons on the ring finger of my left hand. All the musicians I knew and respected told me to forget about a career in music – except for one man – Watts Clarke. He played me a recording of Django Reinhardt, and told me he wouldn’t think much of me if I quit because I lost the use of one finger, when Django had lost the use of two. Taking his advice, I relearned some skills and added others over the span of my now 60 year musical career.
