Dean Rodenbough has more than 25 years of leadership experience in a broad range of corporate communications and public affairs disciplines in support of the Crayola and Hallmark brands.

Dean currently serves as vice president of external affairs at Hallmark Cards where he is responsible for public relations, social media, public affairs and the company’s Visitor Center and Kaleidoscope attractions. He previously served as the vice president of corporate communications and government relations with a focus on strategic communications counsel, employee communications, change management and public affairs in support of the company’s portfolio of businesses in North America and international markets.

Dean joined Hallmark as the corporate communications director in 1997 tackling a broad array of communications and business challenges. He began his corporate career in Pennsylvania working for Crayola where he served as director of corporate affairs and worked closely with the company’s CEO. Among his most significant accomplishments was the development of The Crayola Factory, an interactive children’s attraction near the company’s headquarters.

In addition to his corporate roles, Dean has been an active community and industry leader, serving on several boards and committees for civic organizations throughout his career, including the Kansas City Zoo, Unicorn Theatre, Folly Theatre, the Greeting Card Association, Americans for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts and the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. Currently he serves on the Kansas City Chamber’s Public Policy Committee.

He has been active in numerous professional organizations, serving as a speaker at national conferences for a wide range of industry groups, including the International Association for Business Communicators, the Conference Board, Ragan Communications, the ROI Communications Forum and Melcrum Publishing. Throughout his career, his work has also been profiled in several industry publications.

Dean and his wife, Danielle, live in Leawood, Kansas.
