“As a painter, I am more interested in how the subject appeals to me. I paint what I think is pleasing or compelling to the eye. My watercolors are more detailed than others, I try to bring in the viewer in with color, composition and detail. I enjoy the works of the Impressionists, Hopper and Sargent. Landscapes, cityscapes, and still lifes all begin with strong composition or sense of design. I am attracted to the medium of watercolor because it is challenging, and working on paper allows me to be mobile. The use of color, light and negative space, all play an important part in my work.”
Thomas’s collection will be on display at Lehigh Valley Arts Council (840 Hamilton Street, Suite 201, Allentown) until the end of February. Our hours of operation are 9am to 5pm.
