The Power of Story

The Power of Story:

An arts advocacy Project

Help us build an online library on the impact of the Arts! Your story, no matter how big or small, provides evidence that the arts are essential. The most generous thing a person can do is share their story! Please consider offering your voice in support of the arts. #BeAVoiceForTheArts

Sharing a moment when the Arts touched your life has great power, because with each story we strengthen arts advocacy!
  • The arts bring us together and tell the stories of who we are as people – now and in the future. All community members, artists or non-artists, are equally encouraged to share a moment when the Arts touched their life.
  • Our goal is to encourage greater support of the Arts by publicly shining a light on the unique relationships that people have with the Arts. This collection of voices becomes data that goes beyond the numbers!

To expand on the reach of The Power of Story submissions, the Arts Council has included various stories at each of their public events since the initiative began in the summer of 2017. Most recently, in the summer of 2019, a partnership between WDIY 88.1 FM public radio and the Lehigh Valley Arts Council was formed to widen this project’s reach. Stories have aired on the radio station weekly since July 2019 with the expectation of the stories receiving a full year of programming to start. Check back soon for a time schedule of stories on the local airwaves!
