In such a widespread and diverse region, an umbrella service organization for the arts has proved vital to providing networking opportunities and methods for sharing ideas and information, and to act as a catalyst for community change through the arts.
While the Lehigh Valley Arts Council is not an organization with an “artistic product,” all of our endeavors are focused on making the arts central to the lives of all citizens, and supporting the work of area artists and arts organizations to enable them to be more successful and productive.

Arts Alive
An annual three-event series
Each year, the Lehigh Valley Arts Council showcases the creative process of a working artist in the region by visiting them behind-the-scenes. These intimate events are for members and their friends who are eager to engage their mind and spirit!
The 2017 series will explore the “intimacy of space” as imagined by a landscape architect, captured in a musical salon, and depicted in the wearable art of a metalsmith. The admission fee for each event is $25 for members, $35 for nonmembers. Expand your appreciation for the arts by attending one (or all three) of our Arts Alive offerings!
Wearable Sculpture

Studio of Loretta Tryon
The final offering, Wearable Sculpture, is a visit to the Coopersburg studio of painter and metalsmith Loretta Tryon on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Tryon finds inspiration for her jewelry from the images in her abstract paintings, creating and embellishing three-dimensional shapes with patinas and engraving. Her process visually combines motion and gesture in metal. The studio tour will highlight the evolution of her thirty year career as an artist.

Having talent will not necessarily guarantee success as an arts professional. It takes dedication, personal drive, and constant learning to keep up with the ever-changing world. Our Professional Development Seminars have been created for the business-minded arts professional, arts manager, or emerging artist who wishes to stay current in their field, discovering funding options, new marketing approaches, technology advances, and more. Build your resume and give your career a boost!
We’ve currently completed our 2016 Professional Development Series, and we look forward to our next seminar offerings in 2017! Thank you to all who attended!

The Lehigh Valley Arts Council releases regular publications to continue to expand regional arts promotion and advocacy.
Arts Calendar
Our Arts Calendar is your resource for arts and cultural events. This bi-monthly publication is distributed throughout the Lehigh Valley, both by direct mail to our members and hand-delivered to various organizations and businesses. Our members not only enjoy a free subscription, they may also take advantage of discounted advertising rates for organizations and individual artists.

Another bi-monthly print publication, Inside the Arts, gives insight and updates on our Arts Council programs. The articles are written by our staff and highlight the latest happenings and what’s to come.

Arts Advocate
On alternate months, we release an email communication to over 10,000 community members and patrons titled Arts Advocate. This campaign gives updates for the month on our programs and events, features our exhibiting artist, and promotes our Box Office clients’ upcoming performances.
